AudioNote combines the functionality of a notepad and voice recorder to create a tool that will help the user catalogue their recording sessions (e.g., meetings, lectures, interviews, study, etc.) and highlight key moments to make them easier to locate later.
The app does this by synchronizing the audio and the user’s note-taking – So, you can watch as your text, drawings, and photos are ‘highlighted’ during playback, helping you to remember when and why they were taken.
The app supports sharing your notes through iCloud, Dropbox, over WiFi, or through iTunes. You can also view your notes on a Mac or PC as a .PDF or .audionote file.
What we think
Audionote is an extension of digital note-taking regularly used in academic and professional settings.
The app will be easy to use for people familiar with word-processing software (such as Word) and audio recording software (i.e. understanding of recording and playback concepts, e.g. play, record, etc.)
Simple layout and easy to navigate.
The app is best used to record notes from meetings, lectures, interviews, or personal study.
The app could potentially be used to track the user’s ability to identify important information during a session.
Users may find the highlighting of their work during playback rewarding (potentially encouraging more note taking)
This app can extend on a person’s current note-taking abilities on a smart device.
There are limited personalisation options.
Yes – Organisation and Independence
The app already does what it was designed for very well. The app developers could incorporate more universal access features (e.g. different swipe gestures during the recording could be used to sort important information, without the need to write text)
Being able to get to important information quickly instead of having to listen back to an entire audio recording.
