Dragon Dictation

Dragon dictation is a voice recording app that records and converts verbal information  into text with an option to adapt the format. The app is easy to use and does not require voice training data.

What we think

The app can be purchased from the app store or google play. Dragon Dictation is an easy-to-use voice recognition application powered by Dragon® NaturallySpeaking® that allows you to easily speak and instantly see your text or email messages. It has been identified that it’s up to five (5) times faster than typing on the keyboard if words are recorded correctly.

Yes the app is easy to use. It opens as a blank page and has a button that is universally recognised as a “record” button. There is also an information button located on the lower right corner with user tips to get the best outcomes.

Yes this app has a range of uses which can be generalised to different environments, and skill areas. It is important to recognise that if there is a lot of environmental noise such as a busy classroom it may not get the clearest text conversion, however reviewing this can also be a great therapeutic tool for continued learning and understanding.

The app has no motivators. However an individual could be motivated by seeing their spoken words on the notes document.

Yes this app could be used by anyone who has basic understandings of using an iPad.

Yes the user has full control over audio recordings and text using a built in keyboard to adapt the text document.

This app is appropriate for the intended skill as it can be used to dictate and covert verbal words into visual text.

It could be improved to have more opportunities for training if for an individual to ensure that tone, speech impediments, accent and clarity can be identified. It would also be useful to have more predictive text elements when editing the document.

I liked the fact it was very easy to use.
